‘Banbury Lane Bridge’

The name ‘Bridge Street’ in Banbury does not refer to the railway bridge; it refers to the stone Medieval bridge which carried Banbury Lane over the River Cherwell – two arches of which still exist, buried beneath the Victorian brickwork.
