Language, “sets rules and limits, and grinds the one-prescription-fits-all lenses through which we see everything”. Put simply: It’s difficult to address ‘radical change’ when the mass of people lack the language and understanding to perceive it.
This is the Free Range Network’s ‘Boundless Organized Knowledge Kit’: a Atoolkit for self-education without purpose, without limitation, but with a specific radical, and eco-critical frame, intended to raise people’s capacity to interpret the world around them and act to change their relations to it.
Across the FRAW site links to the Library’s pages can be seen as purple web links. The Library itself has five sections:
The growth of paywalls and increasing levels of regional censorship mean that content that was once linked to across the FRAW site is becoming harder to connect to. These pages act not only as a resource library, but as a single point of connection between the content of FRAW and the rest of the Internet – so that when content is taken down or put behind a paywall new sources can be linked to here without having to change the content of the entire FRAW site.
That said, at some point in the future we hope to create an off-line DVD of this site – recreating the site’s original format in 1994/5 before it went on-line – as a means to address the increasing compartmentalization and marginalization of radical expression and communication (more information on this as-and-when it is completed).
Together these resources are intended to create a ‘toolkit’ for change – a basic set of resources that readers can develop into something more specific which meets their own needs. It is not an end-point in creating change, it is an attempt to provide the seeds that others might use to grow it.
